Interesting product which I'm still trying to master!

I'm glad to have found this product -- a low carb/high protein grain susbtitute.

I've prepared them like I would for couscous (boil kettle, submerge lupins in hot water and cover for 10 minutes to steam). I then add seasoning (salt, pepper and fresh herbs).

Lupins are not unpleasant. I've made several meals with them -- one was a chicken cashew curry with the lupins acting like rice. It was nice. However, there is a slight metallicy/lentil/ split pea taste. Again, not horrible. But it is there in my opinion. I want to like these more than I do since the nutritional qualities are incredible. So, I'll use up my smaller bags and see if I develop a stronger affinity for them before I contemplate purchasing the larger sized bag.

I had no idea as to what to expect, but I am so pleased that I decided to try them. I can taste lentils (which I use a lot), however the flaked Lupin beans are just so easy to use. I am sprinkling them over just about everything. I think it is brilliant that something so tasty and so easy to use is actually so good for you !!

We are so pleased you love our lupins!

Never go soft

I'm very confused about these flakes. The package says they are edible after 3 minutes of boiling. But then they just taste hard and raw. I boiled them (unsoaked) for 1.5 hours to get them soft, and also tried a batch with overnight soaking that still required 45 minutes of boiling to be somewhat soft. For me they are unfortunately not fulfilling my hope, they are less tasty than normal lupins while taking similar boiling time. Lupin protein powder might be a better option for me. Giving 2 stars for the technological innovation and hoping this will become more useful in the future!

We don't recognise this issue and can only imagine the product has become damaged in some way. We're happy to send you another pack to try.

Excellent product

So glad the flakes are back in stock. Being a vegetarian this source of protein is very welcome.
